Easter break

Well done on completing what must of been one of the strangest terms of school history! I have enjoyed having you all back in the classroom so much, in fact I was a bit sad the hoildays had come round so quickly. When we return, we will reading The Explorer by Katherine Rundell, an adventure story about children lost in the Amazon jungle. This will link to our Big Idea – Around The World in Forty Days. Your compulsory homework is to name and locate ten European countries (use the map below to help you). I don’t mind which ten hopefully when we come together we will have covered them all. Your non-compulsory homework is to research and present one fact about the Amazon Rainforest.

Map in easy to print form.

Remember have fun, be outside and enjoy spending time with your families.

P.S. eat chocolate

Class news and Comic relief 19th March

What a lovely week we have had! We all seem really well settled back and into the swing of in class learning. Our Big Idea cracking contraptions is producing some fabulous learning from bridge making to explaining how forces effect our everyday life. A couple of class notices; comic relief is this Friday and we are celebrating in school by telling jokes. Every class will be choosing a joke to be told at our celebration assembly and then we will vote for an overall school joke winner. Below is a link to find out all about the great work comic relief does.

Challenge 2 | Comic Relief

After Easter we will be encouraging everyone to get on their bike, scooter or trikes for the Big Pedal on the 19-30th April 2021.

PE and forest school

PE will continue this week and next on a Monday and Wednesday please ensure your child has their PE kit, appropriate for the weather in school on these days. Due to the current restrictions we can not lend spare kit. To reduce the time taken to change into kit, the need to keep boys and girls separate and the small space available in the cloakroom children will be called in groups to change during their lunch hour. I will offer an extended 10 minute extra free play after PE to make up lost playtime but no longer. I am sure you will agree that 10 minutes is ample time to change and a skill you as parents would wish to encourage. Currently Monday and Wednesday will continue as our PE days after Easter.

Forest School is on Tuesday and children work on week on week off rota. Please ensure your child has forest school kit on the appropriate day.

Lunchtimes are spent as a week on week off rota on the field. This week we are playground based – so less muddy clothes but next week we will back on the field. Please ensure your child has a pair of wellies to wear because the field is still very muddy. A set of waterproofs would also be a good idea however please ensure your child knows that just because you are wearing full length waterproofs rolling in mud is not advisory and not in line with ready, respectable and safe behaviors.

Any problems, comments or questions please do still email me however anything urgent should go through the office. I only pick up emails between 3-4pm.

Have a lovely week
