This afternoon we are looking at art. Just like our Andy Warhol pictures we are going to choose a famous person and colour them in block colour. You could one famous person or make a collage. Either sketch by hand and then colour or search the Internet for a black and white image which you can print and then colour. Warhol didn’t just do people he also used ordinary items such as tins of soup.  Or you could take a picture of yourself on an apple device and use photo edit to create an image.

To remind you of Warhol’s work here was the power point we looked at last week.

Answers and updates for Monday

Thank you for your feedback on statics learning. In general we feel confident about drawing and reading graphs but would like more on timetables and two-way tables. Well your wish is my command and tomorrow’s maths lesson will be timetables and Wednesday two-way tables.

Answers for yesterday’s early bird. Please self-mark and as always if you any major difficulties with any of the questions please let know.

Math challenges

So far I have been sent two questions to solve.

  1. using the three star table – if i travel from York to London and then London to Manchester traveling at 5KM per hour how long will it take me?
  2. Y-L =325km + L-M = 330 so altogether 655Km if I go 5KM per hour I divide 5/655 so 131 hours. Luckily most cars go a bit faster than this!
  3. Using the sandwich table Which sandwiches are the most popular and the least?
  4. Most popular is cheese on white and least popular BLT on brown.

Well done to the mums and dads who answered their children’s questions. I hear you have all done very well.

Here is another Shakespeare portrait for you to enjoy.

I am going to print off everyone’s picture and make a big gallery in the classroom including the children who are in school.

We are looking at statics again today and trying to pull together everything we have learnt. You need your work from Thursday. We are going to examine what went well and what we still need to do. I have attached the question sheet for reference and the answer sheet. Before you start the video mark your work. Then watch the video, there is a little reflection task for you to send me and then I go over the most common errors we made. Finally there are three star challenge, just like at school, choose that is right for you. I have attached the challenges for ease to the blog below the video.

Mini-Assessment-Block-3_Answers_Year-5-Statistics      use this to self mark Thursday’s work.

Today you need the help of your grown up to test you on your spellings. Your grown up could read out the spellings and you can write them down. Ten new words are a lot all at once so try doing a couple at a time. You play a game with your spellings. Get a coin and flip it, if it heads think of a cious ending word if tails a tious ending word. Can you beat your grown-up?

We are continuing with our reading challenge but with the extra challenge of beating last week’s impressive word total over 106000 words read as a class! Log into reading plus and help build that total. Let me know if you need your log in details again. Please also spend 15 minutes on either times table rock stars or hit the button.

Monday forest schools

In school we go to the forest on Monday. Miss Brown has added a Forest School challenge on the Forest School blog. Or you spend some time bird watching either walking outside or from your bedroom window. The RSPB has a bird identifier that is very useful.

Bird Identifier | British Garden Birds and Many More – The RSPB

You could spend thirty minutes a day seeing what you spot and then make a graph to show me.
