The floors began to creak and shake and a dozy perfume hit my nose. Suddenly a herd of Elephants and a pack of Lions dramatically entered the red nad white circus tent the Lions through hoops of fire and the Elephants on two legs…. Then there he was the ringmaster he had descended through the roof!!! He was riding on a GIANT ring and his hat said prince of humbug! Oh! Who can forget the actors themselves some flipping on trapeze and some dancing gracefully in blurry shapes. Never before had I seen such talented people

Then the ringmaster passed his hat on till it came back to himself. He went away and a new one came on stage. I was entranced as I thought of these amazing ideas for the public. Then the trapeze arist came down next to hi and then they………………………………………….KISSED!!! {eeeeeewwwwwww eeeewwww eeewww} then they parted and he did knee slides and performers rotated in mid air!
“WOWS” filled the night air. Then guess what I saw …. you can’t well get ready tiny Tom Thumb riding a little elephant. Roards of laughter came out of my head nad I saw someone who probably should shave acting like a kid

Then a piece of paper confetti came on my nose and I vowed not to put it in the bin ever, ever, ever, ever and you get the idea right?!!
I craned my neck to see the ending. It was the best thing I had ever seen!!!!!!!!!

Pen Pal Performance!

Year 3 had the most amazing day yesterday! From the minute we left school til the bell went at the end of the school day they were absolute superstars. We powered the walk to the train station super sensibly, even when 2 dogs on the loose wanted to come and play we all stayed calm and listened to the adults instructions. Turned out it was one of our own whose dogs were on the loose anyway!

When we got to the train station everyone sat down quietly and followed the safety rules. I know some of us were a bit nervous it was a first time on a train for some but I think you can see from the smiles we settled in pretty quickly and enjoyed our one stop journey.

A short walk on the other side and we were there, ready to perform. The smiles when we walked through the door could light up a small city. They were so pleased to see us and had decorated beautifully for valentines day. Year 3 settled themselves into position and put on their best show ever which was met with a big applause and even bigger smiles.

We then split off and went searching for pen pals (old and new). Lots of new friendships were made and lots of peoples days were made (mine included). Just sitting back and watching how they interacted brought a tear to the eyes of several onlookers. It was such a special thing to witness. We were sad to leave but I’m fairly certain they haven’t seen the last of us yet!

We were all getting a bit hungry by the time we made it back to school so we decided to enjoy the sunshine while we could and took our lunches outside and had a lovely picnic and a play. Perfect end to a perfect day. I can honestly say I have never been proud of each and every single one of these amazing young people. Bunch of absolute diamonds. I really would encourage you to bring your kids to go and visit their pen pals at The Cuttings so you can see it for yourself.

Thank you for an absolutely wonderful day to Year 3, Louise and all the residents and staff at the Cuttings for helping us arrange it and of course to the fabulous helpers who we couldn’t have done without! Love you all!! xo

We love division (because we get to write on tables!)

In today’s lesson we were learning to divide 2 digit numbers with remainders. We counter our lolly sticks to begin with, then decided which shape we would use and how many sides it had, then counter the shapes and how many sticks were left over. We built up then to writing the whole calculation ourselves! It was a lot of fun and we made some lovely patterns. You wouldn’t believe how many lollies I had to eat…..
